Nowadays, people are more concerned about thei health but on the other hand they don`t want to loose their time going to the doctor, facing traffic jams, schedule an appointment with doctors and still wait long queues in the clinics. What about combine taking care of your heath without disturb your routine?
Health checks from your doctor could be replaced by visits to the bathroom, thanks to a smart toilet developed by a Japanese company, TOTO. The "Intelligence Toilet" system, can measure sugar levels in urine, blood pressure, body fat and weight. The system was developed by Toto in conjunction with homebuilder Daiwa House Industry.
Users begin their toilet-room medical at the built-in urine analyzer, which collects five cubic centimeters (0.15 fluid ounces) of urine before analyzing sugar levels. The device cleans itself automatically after the one-minute long test.
Users then move to the blood pressure monitor, within arm's reach of the toilet, then weigh themselves on a set of scales in front of the basin and measure their body mass index (BMI) after washing their hands.
What could this doctor warn its patients and how is the consult?
Once results are taken, they are transferred to a home network, and analyzed on a computer spreadsheet. Advice about diet and exercise is then dispensed. For example, graphs on a desktop PC will show if glucose levels have been fluctuating, along with urine temperatures. These trends can help diabetics time insulin shots. The Intelligent Toilet is equipped with a measurement function for lifestyle related diseases, such as obesity, and has a function that individually records one year’s worth of measurement data for up to four people in a household.
One of the things that users desire in managing health at home is ingenuity that enables them to continue good habits. The data recorded on the PC can be displayed on a graph as weekly, monthly and yearly units using the health management software.Advice about diet and exercise is then dispensed, without any human intervention.
For women, These trends can give insight into hormone levels for women concerned with their menstrual cycles. Trying to have a baby? Not sure when your most likely to conceive? Ask your toilet for help.
And how much could this particular doctor would cost?
TOTO , are expert when the main subject is bathroom and for sure they include all this expertise on their price. These are the guys who first brought Japan the porcelain toilet back in 1917. By their centennial anniversary they may by producing Toilets with MDs. At $6100 a pop (with complete installation) and for sure it is "high salary" for having a personal doctor at home , but the first Intelligence Toilet (mark I) has already sold more than 10,000 units worldwide.
What I would say is that some people are starting to think it's a good idea to literally flush a little money down the toilet.
